NOMINEES FOR 9TH BISHOP OF WYOMING ANNOUNCED!

Nominees for the 9th Bishop of Wyoming announced!
The Oversight Committee for the Search, Transition & Election has announced five nominees for the 9th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming. In alphabetical order, the nominees are:
~ The Rev. Rebecca “Becky” Brown, Rector - St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Foxborough, MA / Diocese of Massachusetts
~ The Very Rev. Robert “Bob” Neske, Dean – St. Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, NE / Diocese of Nebraska
~ The Very Rev. Canon F. Michael Perko, Ph.d., Dean – Diocesan School for Ministry; Regional Canon; Assisting Priest, Cathedral of St. John, Albuquerque, NM / Diocese of the Rio Grande,
~ The Rev. Canon Dr. Clark Michael Sherman, Rector – St. James Church, Bozeman, MT; Regional Canon; University Chaplain / Diocese of Montana
~ The Rev. John Sheridan Smylie, Rector – St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Casper, WY / Diocese of Wyoming
"The Oversight Committee is pleased to accept the recommendations of the Search Committee," said Norm Peterson, co-chairman of the Oversight Committee which is charged with overseeing the process for the selection and election of Wyoming's next Episcopal bishop. "Thousands of hours of hard work and prayer have done into the Search Committee's efforts and we are confident the Holy Spirit has guided their decision-making."
The Oversight Committee thanks Linda Anderson, Search Committee chairwoman, and all of the members of her committee for their commitment and inspired work.
With the announcement of the Search Committee's nominees, the Petition Process officially opens for canonically-resident clergy and active laity within the Diocese also to make nominations for bishop. Petition forms and instructions will be available at the www.WyomingBishopSearch.org website.
The petition period is two weeks long and all of the paperwork must be submitted by December 21, 2009. Each nomination form requires the signatures of eight laity and eight clergy representing a minimum of two regions and six congregations.
Once the full slate of nominees is determined in late December, the information for the walkabouts will be released. The Electing Convention is scheduled be held March 20 at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Laramie with the consecration set for July 24, 2010 in Casper.
