UPDATE ON THE SEARCH FOR WYOMING'S NEXT BISHOP 03-08-10

Please share this information widely with your parish

The videos of the bishop nominees on the Wyoming Walkabout are currently being prepped for posting on YouTube. Although they are not being edited, a tremendous amount of work is required to convert them to a digital format which then must be divvied up into 10 minute segments for uploading. Once the task is completed, you'll be able to watch the nominees' comments in real-time -- all six hours' worth!

The Wyoming Walkabout travel-blog will be updated in the next day or two and will fully cover the final three days. Sketchy internet service, coupled with illness, put the blog temporarily on hold. Thanks for your patience!

And, a hearty thank you to all of the Wyoming Episcopalians who came out in force throughout the state to meet the nominees during the 8-day Walkabout. Some people traveled hundreds of miles to attend a walkabout and others took time off of work to participate in several events. The nominees have expressed their gratitude for the warmth and hospitality with which they were greeted and especially for the willingness of so many people to share their direct and heartfelt thoughts. Your willingness to be honest with your concerns and aspirations was deeply appreciated.

The election for the next bishop of Wyoming will be held in less than two weeks -- on March 20 at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Laramie. All canonically resident clergy will vote, as well as lay delegates selected by each parish. In the next couple of days, we'll be sending out the list of lay delegates to the convention so you'll know who is representing your parish.

Your unceasing prayers are needed for God's will in this process and for the Holy Spirit's guidance as our clergy and lay delegates discern whom they believe is called to be the 9th Bishop of Wyoming.

May God continue to bless us all as we move closer to the Electing Convention.

Warmest regards,
PAMELA RW KANDT
Communications Team

The Electing Convention is scheduled for March 20, 2010 at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Laramie. (March 27 is the back-up date in the event that weather makes the 20th impossible.)

A Prayer for Our Bishop Search
Eternal God, our sovereign Creator, Redeemer and Guide, in your mercy give your Church in the Diocese of Wyoming a shepherd after your own heart, who will walk in your ways, and with loving care watch over your people. Grant us a leader with your vision and a teacher of your truth, so your Church here may be built up and your name glorified; though Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
